I’m so excited to introduce this dried Tart Cherry 🍒 Chocolate Cayenne Crunch! This recipe is SPICY (!), a tad sweet, nutritious, and a VERY different take on what you’d expect from a trail mix.

I intentionally added 1 cup of chickpeas (not in your average trail mix) for flavor and texture.

This post is made in partnership Montmorency Tart Cherries.

MONTMORENCY TART CHERRIES HAVE A NICE TART KICK

This recipe features Montmorency tart dried cherries – I prefer the unsweetened dried tart cherries for this recipe since they give a nice tart kick without being too sweet. They go with just about anything.

What I love: they’ve got a unique sweet-tart flavor – more sour than sweet.

The distinctive sour-sweet taste and deep red color of Montmorency tart cherries are due to the concentration of anthocyanins, a type of polyphenol in the flavonoids family.

Tart or sour cherries are an American-grown fruit – grown mostly in 7 U.S. states, including Michigan, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and New York. So, when you buy Montmorency tart cherries, you’re supporting small American family farms.

INSPIRED BY SUMMER: TART CHERRY CHOCOLATE CAYENNE CRUNCH

Summer inspired; I turned my love of Montmorency tart cherries into a 🍒cherry chocolate cayenne crunch🍒. Think trail mix – but better (and spicier), and perfect to take on the go for all your summer activities.
